OnStar, (a subsidiary of General Motors), is the leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security and communication services. Operational in the US since 1996, On star will offer UK and European customers a variety of functions, ranging from theft alerts, vehicle tracking and the ability to remotely limit a stolen car’s speed or isolate its ignition. Set to launch this year, the multi-lingual 24 hour, UK/European Call Centre will be located in Vauxhall’s Head Office in Luton.
To ensure that the Call Centre was equipped to be fully operational, the existing office area’s had to be completely refurbished.
Appointed to carry out the project, FPM were responsible for all aspects of the contract. The co-ordination of Health & Safety and the various trades were key to ensure that all aspects were executed to the highest quality levels.
Having received the final design specification the refurbishment process was undertaken.
Redundant services were removed, all existing inner walls, flooring and suspended ceilings were stripped out and the team got underway building the new office facility.
A new raised floor, underfloor bus bar system, Cat 6A data cabling, LED lighting system, suspended ceiling and AV system (comprising of LED TVs and state-of-the-art projection facilities) completed the new look Call Centre. Commissioned over a 6 month period, all work was completed both on time and one budget. All that remains for us to say is that we wish the new team good luck and hope that everyone enjoys their new office!
